Building a shed is something that most guys want to do at some stage in their lives – it’s almost like a right of passage to create something that you can use, and that benefits your life. It’s sort of like restoring a car to its former glory. But a shed is somewhere where you can get away from the stresses of everyday life, concentrate on hobbies, or just relax in!
If you have ever looked for shed designs and wondered what it entailed, I bet you have thought that it would take a skilled (or at least competant!) person to take on such a job. Well you would be surprised! Depending on the size of the shed, you could do it alone, or if it’s a bigger project get some of the guys round and tackle it together. Learning how to build a shed is almost as much fun as the drinking the beers in it when you have finished!
Your first attempt doesnt have to be anything huge. I’m sure you could do with somewhere to store your lawnmower and gardening stuff right? Well a simple 6×4 shed would suit you just fine, and if you set aside a couple of afternoons you would easily have it done and filled – even working alone.
The best resource I have bought during my time building sheds and other garden furniture was a set of shed plans that literally gave you everything you could want – from what materials to use, to the sizes required, the right fixings, and even the recommended tools. It was such a time saver to be able to go to the DIY store and just hand over a list. I didn’t have to worry about forgetting anything because the plans told me everything.
